Associate Professor, Roosevelt University
Research Focus
Amy Roberts studies child development in social,
cultural,
and historical context. Her research focuses on cultural variation in how
communities organize learning activities through social interaction,
communication, and attention.
Dr. Robert is particularly interested in the ways
learning is organized in communities in North and Central America where
schooling has not been historically prevalent.
Dra. Roberts is also interested in how immigrant and minority youth negotiate the multiple learning contexts of their lives, such as home and school. She is interested in the implications of these negotiations for children’s developing identities, and success in school.
